6,000 Integrations: Anthropic Launches Claude Duet for Business Automation

The new agent targets professionals and small businesses with a focus on background task management and proactive data analysis.

Anthropic has officially launched Claude Duet, a new application designed to serve as an autonomous agent for professionals and small businesses. The release marks a significant shift in the company’s strategy, moving beyond simple chat interactions to focus on workflow automation. The app is currently available in research preview for Pro and Max customers on iOS, Android, and the web, though access is restricted to those on a waitlist.

The core differentiator for Duet is its ability to manage complex tasks in the background. Built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model, the agent utilizes its own virtual machine to execute jobs while the user continues with other activities. It can generate daily briefings, construct data dashboards, and suggest specific actions based on the user’s existing data. Unlike personal assistants that prioritize errands, Duet is engineered for professional productivity, allowing it to monitor ongoing projects and proactively deliver recommendations.

Connectivity is a major feature of the new platform. Anthropic states that Duet can integrate with over 6,000 connectors and plug-ins available in the Claude Marketplace. This broad ecosystem allows the agent to interact with a wide range of third-party tools. Furthermore, the app can execute online purchases on behalf of the user using Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay. To maintain control, sensitive steps such as payments require explicit user approval, while the agent is restricted from trading securities or transferring money between accounts.

Security measures are also central to the launch. Anthropic introduced a new classifier that scrutinizes each message to prevent the leakage of sensitive information. By default, the system is configured to decline requests for personal details like credit card numbers or government identification. This approach addresses a common concern regarding agent-based systems that handle private data.

The market for AI agents is becoming increasingly crowded, with competitors like Meta, OpenAI, and Hark releasing similar tools. While Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots have moved toward business use cases with app integrations, Anthropic is drawing a clear line between personal and professional agents. The company notes that Duet is not intended for handling personal errands or booking tickets, nor does it offer real-time visibility into its browser usage, distinguishing it from rivals like Instinct.

As the industry moves from passive assistants to active agents that work on a user’s behalf, Anthropic is positioning Duet as a specialized tool for the enterprise and small business sectors. The next phase will involve expanding access beyond the current research preview as the waitlist is processed.

Users can expect a more hands-off experience where the agent handles routine digital labor, allowing professionals to focus on higher-level decision-making. The launch signals a broader trend in the AI industry toward specialized, task-oriented automation rather than general-purpose chatbots.
